Puget Sound Region Announces New Beach Volleyball High Performance Training Program

The Puget Sound Region of USA Volleyball has announced the addition of a Beach Volleyball High Performance Training program to their offering for the 2013 season. The program is designed to provide high level training for athletes who are considering pursuing beach volleyball as a means to a college scholarship or as high level cross training for their indoor volleyball careers. There is no charge for the program to players who qualify through the Puget Sound Region USA Volleyball High Performance Qualifier Tournament June 15/16 at Bottega Fitness Park.

Members of the Puget Sound Region Beach High Performance Program will be invited to several training sessions held over the course of the next three weeks.  These sessions will feature former beach volleyball professionals  who are now coaches in the Puget Sound Region.  The High Performance Teams will also be the demonstration teams for the free Beach Volleyball Camp at Jetty Island with Olympic Gold Medalist Eric Fonoimoana.

Free Beach Volleyball Clinic with Olympic Gold Medalist Eric Fonoimoana, July 15-17, 2013 at Jetty Island

The Puget Sound Region of USA Volleyball and USA Beach Volleyball have partnered with Proctor and Gamble to provide a free beach volleyball camp at Jetty Island in Everett, Washington from July 15-17 with Olympic Gold Medalist Eric Fonoimoana as the head clinician.  Registration for the camp is available through Beach.SoundVolleyball.com. 

Participants may be a part of any or all of the three training sessions taking place at Jetty Island, but space is limited so early registration is encouraged.  Throughout the clinic, Fonoimoana will be joined by coaches from the Puget Sound Region Beach Volleyball High Performance program to provide as much feedback as possible to the campers as they learn the beach volleyball skills. 

Fonoimoana won the Olympic Gold Medal for beach volleyball in the 2000 Sydney Olympics with partner Dain Blanton.  He is a former AVP Player of the Year and won an estimated one million dollars playing professional volleyball over an 18 year career.  He is also the founder of Dig For Kids, a non-profit organization that helps provide academic and athletic opportunities to kids in inner-city schools. 

The event will be part of Beach Volleyball Week in the Puget Sound which will include the Washington State Games Beach Volleyball Tournament played at Alki Beach July 13-14 and the Western Open US Junior Beach Tour National Championship Qualifier Tournament played at Jetty Island July 20-21. 

Great Weather, Great Volleyball Kickstart the Puget Sound Region Beach Championship Series

Kam Root and Lexi Mcklintock won the U14 Division of the first ever Bottega Cup Championship Series. 

Both the Northwest Volleyball Beach Series and the Bottega Cup Championship got underway over the weekend of June 1-2.  The weather made for amazing beach volleyball as over 150 athletes got their first taste of sand competition in 2013.

Here is Your Chance to Qualify for the Prestigous 2013 USA Volleyball High Performance Tournament!

The Puget Sound Region of USA Volleyball is offering beach volleyball athletes the opportunity to qualify for the USA Volleyball High Performance Championship Tournament in 2013.  The Puget Sound Region qualifier event for the junior girls division will be held June 15 and 16 at Bottega Fitness in Clearview, WA with the top two teams in each age division earning the right to represent the Puget Sound Region at the National Championship.

The USA Volleyball Beach High Performance Championship is the marque junior beach volleyball tournament in the country featuring athletes from the USA Volleyball Junior Beach National Teams and International competition.  The event will be held July 17-21 at Hermosa Beach in California.

Teams choosing to accept bids and participate in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championship in California will be eligible to receive special training from beach volleyball coaches in the Puget Sound Region prior to their trip.  These athletes will be the first ever Regional beach high performance athletes from the Puget Sound Region. 

Space is limited in this tournament, it is recommended that interested athletes sign up early.

Outdoor/Beach Volleyball Training and Tournaments Offered by Highline Community College

At Highline College …. We are offering an Outdoor / Beach camp ….

Starting May 7^th

The camp will be help at Highline College on Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9pm

Camp fee is $200 for the month and includes a free entry into one of our grass series events.

Highline College Grass Volleyball Tournament Series

We are offering a 4 tournament series of Grass 4’s for juniors

Age groups are U12 – U14 – U16 – U18 girls

Entry fee is $100 per team ($25 per player)
Participants in this series will earn points towards the Puget Sound Region Grass Volleyball Championship and the Overall Summer Championship!
