place to visit and we are excited to showcase our community to the athletes and
spectators during the first annual Gig Harbor Grass Classic. Our hotels,
restaurants, shops and residents look forward to welcoming everyone in August,” said Laureen Lund, Marketing Director for the City of Gig Harbor.
"Beach volleyball is growing extremely fast and we're happy to be working in Gig Harbor to help introduce more players to the game," said tournament coordinator, Mati Bishop. "These events are a great way for athletes to give beach volleyball a try and for most of them once they get a taste of playing outdoors, they are hooked," he continued.

Pilchuk Elementary school July 27 and 28th. Registration is available through Beach.SoundVolleyball.com. Click Here to Register
"Every since I started mentioning that USA Volleyball was bringing a tournament to Aquafest, I have had people telling me they remembered back in the day when there used to be beach volleyball at Aquafest," said Tournament Coordinator Mati Bishop.
"When you combine that kind of history, with the explosion of popularity of youth volleyball in the area led by Lake Volleyball Club and the excitement of Aquafest itself, this promises to be one of the most exciting USA Volleyball events of the summer," he concluded.
The event will be part of the USA Volleyball Puget Sound Region and Volleyball Mecca Junior Points Championship Series that will also include the Kla Ha Ya Days 4v4 tournament, four events at Jetty Island in Everett and a series of events at Bottega Fitness in Clearview. The tournament will also include an adult tournament on Saturday with novice and advanced divisions designed to bring out volleyball players old and new to check out Aquafest.
USA Volleyball Puget Sound Region represents over 5,000 members from Bellingham to Chehalis and starting in 2013 will promote more outdoor volleyball events than any other group in the Puget Sound Region.
"Beach volleyball is exploding in popularity right now," said Bishop. "Having exciting and fun events like our tournament at Aquafest is a way for us to expose as many people as possible to how much fun playing outdoors is."

Summer Volleyball Coming to Snohomish as Part of the Kla Ha Ya Days Festival
A grass volleyball tournament has been added to the City of
Snohomish Kla Ha Ya Days festivities starting in 2013. The tournament is
planning to feature 4v4 competition for junior and adult divisions on the
weekend of July 12-14 and will be part of the USA Volleyball Puget Sound Region
Summer Volleyball Championship. Information and registration is available
through Beach.SoundVolleyball.com.
Beach volleyball is one of the fastest growing sports in
America, fueled largely by the success of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri
Walsh-Jennings in Olympic Competition. Kla Ha Ya Days is hoping to tap
into both the rapidly growing junior volleyball population in and around
Snohomish and the adult population of players that have been left largely
without major tournaments to compete in Snohomish County.
“Kla Ha Ya Days is excited about adding a new iconic event
to its Festival schedule that supports the family friendly values of the
festival. We are excited to show off Snohomish to our new visitors.”
shared Tammie Isackson, president of Kla Ha Ya Days
The tournament is planning on having 10 or more courts worth
of action each day and each of the age divisions will be featured on the
Championship Court for their Semifinals and finals matches.
The goal of the directors is to create a memorable experience and grow the
event into a regional attraction similar to the Seaside Volleyball Tournament
in Oregon or the Spike and Dig Volleyball Tournament in Spokane.
“We are excited about the future of this tournament and
expect exponential growth in the years to come”
Registration for the event will open on April 1 and will be held through Beach.SoundVolleyball.com.
