Summer Volleyball Coming to Snohomish as Part of the Kla Ha Ya Days Festival

A grass volleyball tournament has been added to the City of Snohomish Kla Ha Ya Days festivities starting in 2013.  The tournament is planning to feature 4v4 competition for junior and adult divisions on the weekend of July 12-14 and will be part of the USA Volleyball Puget Sound Region Summer Volleyball Championship.  Information and registration is available through Beach.SoundVolleyball.com.

Beach volleyball is one of the fastest growing sports in America, fueled largely by the success of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings in Olympic Competition.  Kla Ha Ya Days is hoping to tap into both the rapidly growing junior volleyball population in and around Snohomish and the adult population of players that have been left largely without major tournaments to compete in Snohomish County.

“Kla Ha Ya Days is excited about adding a new iconic event to its Festival schedule that supports the family friendly values of the festival.  We are excited to show off Snohomish to our new visitors.” shared Tammie Isackson, president of Kla Ha Ya Days

The tournament is planning on having 10 or more courts worth of action each day and each of the age divisions will be featured on the Championship Court for their Semifinals and finals matches.    The goal of the directors is to create a memorable experience and grow the event into a regional attraction similar to the Seaside Volleyball Tournament in Oregon or the Spike and Dig Volleyball Tournament in Spokane.

“We are excited about the future of this tournament and expect exponential growth in the years to come”

Registration for the event will open on April 1 and will be held through Beach.SoundVolleyball.com.
